Jennifer Sparkman Bartee, PhD
Welcome!
This site is the best place for you to stay updated on my scholarship in the field of education. I am an Assistant Professor of Education at the University of the District of Columbia, the nation’s only urban land grant institution and proud HBCU. I earned a Master of Music Education from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, a post-graduate certificate in gifted education from Regis University, and a PhD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Denver. My teaching focuses on developing current and future teachers within the District of Columbia’s education system. Recognizing that systems of power are built into contemporary education further fuels my work within the realms of urban education. My research centers on curriculum development in the areas of affective education, arts integration, and their role in urban school settings.
